Not this room not this room but every room you've lived in not this face but every face you've loved not this bed but every one you've slept in not this life but every life you've known not this night but every night alone not this moment but the one that you imagine not this weariness this hunger for release not this century but all that we have come through not this war but every war we've lost and won

The Street 03:45
The Street He chose the street and not the shelter he took his chances with the sleepless in the dark And when his friends did not return their bodies quiet now as candles under glass he felt the echo of the flames that once drew breath He makes his weary way among the ones who kept their distance he thanks his God and turns toward another day Everything’s closed and so he walks among the ghosts of times forgotten and it’s the coldest kind of comfort to know he made it through And all he owns he carries on his back nothing much to lose yet he is restless set to fight And when the morning brings on daylight he takes a silent count of everything he knows he feels the echo of a life that once was promised he makes a note to walk among the ones who understand him he thanks the stars and turns toward another night

Draw me a circle how much do we know seasons come and go time knocks at the door and we are always home how far can we go following the wind how much have we lost how much can be saved draw me a circle in the sand where I can find myself push me now and then so I can learn to fall how much can we fail without just letting go the night unfolds we hold on faster to the days draw me a circle in the sand where I can find myself push me now and then so I can learn to fall

Closer 05:50
Closer And when we turned / toward the future With our hearts bared /a thousand drums were heard The empty towers / rose again We looked so far / into the distance We could hardly see / and time was hiding In the mirror / in the dark We took our dreams / and all our demons To the edge of days / their gentle wings And scarlet feathers / led us to a place Where we were quiet / with the wonder Of it all / the children sang And all the arrows / fell apart And lay in / patterns on the ground That spoke of ancient stories / seldom told And rhymes that whispered / deep inside There were no Gods above / to name Only the broken hallelujah / that we mended And we played / until the moon herself That once bore witness / to the starry night Was dancing in our eyes / again And we were free to wander / through the golden fields Follow the river / to the sea We raised the flag of truth / so we would not forget And gathered all the children near / and brought them To a safe / and higher ground And as we watched / in private galaxies / of memory We knew at once / what we had come / to find And held it closer / than we’d ever done before

Blood and bone Let's light a candle for those who didn't make it let's make a promise we'll all meet up again under the sky in some serene and ancient valley our faces whole and shining bright and our masks thrown to the ground We'll dance before the fire, say the words we wish we'd said, and when night comes we'll wrap ourselves in blankets made of stone we lie beneath the stars we know we're not alone there's so much more than blood and bone the stories that we never told There's so much more I should have told you so much more still to be said the days stretch on and when I see you on the street though we are strangers from a time before we have a second chance I've brought a candle for the journey it's a long way in the dark

Suddenly 06:24
Suddenly Suddenly there's all this time where's the poem, where's the rhyme the songs are quiet in your head in a memory, packed away I know some day we'll open it again and to the empty room's applause (you) pour your heart and soul out loud do you remember how it was the grace of ordinary things I know some day we'll find them all again be the song the sparrow sings find the music in the rain read the lines among the branches of the pines
7.
What you needed I never felt more tired Or felt so all alone Your face behind a curtain A hand that I can’t even hold And what is there to say? When words are frail and hollow When what you need the most Is the one thing I can’t give To feel your breath across my face To wipe the worry from your brow Sometimes I’m trapped behind a mask With all that’s human sealed away Doing my very best to save you Letting you know you’re not alone Nothing to do but carry on And though my heart keeps breaking I patch it up and start again And better days are coming A lightness in the air There’s hope on the horizon If I could just get there If more lives could be saved I’d trade a heart that’s hollow And measure every breath As though it were my very own I’d summon up the summer wind

Hold On 05:31
Hold on Hold on hold back the fear there's a break in the clouds a truth to be found we'll find each other again knowing all that we've learned with no place left to hide or to run the world is one love is the same Faces lost in a crowd we will see them again with nothing to fear and if we're lucky enough we'll know we're never alone with no place left to hide or to run love makes us one we're all the same
9.
Prayer 03:34
Prayer May evening fall and find your head upon my shoulder And may we sit down to a table set for ten May the schoolyards fill with laughter And the doors Burst open wide And in the morning May we all begin again May we be unafraid in rooms of crowded strangers And meet a neighbour with no need to turn away may we gather to remember those we miss and open up our arms to all of those we love And in the morning May we all begin again May evening fall Across the world And find us better May the walls of silence rumble with our prayers though we were far apart may we be ever closer And in the morning May we all begin again
